Interaction & Product Design

I’m an experienced designer of products that span a multitude of domains, including automotive, smart home, eCommerce, education, entertainment, and health.

I pride myself on detail-oriented and user-centered thinking, working within constraints, and an ability to effectively communicate to others the value of great design.

I work with some of the most innovative companies in the world to create well-designed products that are intuitive to users.

At my core, I love to solve difficult problems.

INTERACTION DESIGN

I take an idea for a product and make it real. I utilize the processes of concepting, sketching, wireframing, and prototyping to design experiences that make intuitive sense to users and create joy. It’s more than just drawing gray boxes: it’s thinking about the spatial models, motion, components, and organization that will best solve the problem at hand.

Strategy

The products I work on are often the main touch points consumers have with a company. It’s important to me that these products take the visual and interaction direction that best reflects the brand, given business needs and the necessity to rise above competitors. I understand a company’s goals and craft solutions that support them, while communicating to the client the importance of strong design thinking.

User Research

I find it important to get to know the user in order to design well. At the start of a new product, I will often conduct contextual inquiries to understand existing behaviors, frustrations, and motivations. Later, I use concept testing to see what solutions work best for potential consumers, and why. In the design phase, I run usability tests to see where a solution might fail and help inform how to fix it. Perhaps most crucially, I transform this research into actionable insights that can be used by both the design team and the company at large.

Leadership

I lead interdisciplinary teams through varied projects in order ensure we stay on schedule and create great designs. This involves a high degree of organization, communication, design critique, and motivation building. I help to oversee the interaction design community at Punchcut, including hiring, skills development, and mentorship. Guiding a product to its realization requires a clear plan, and the ability to effectively articulate that plan to the team at hand. I want teams that communicate well and always look to learn from one another.
